Proceedings on allegations of misusing taxpayer funds and ignoring border regulations will begin on January 10.
Representative Mark Green of Tennessee, Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said the committee has scheduled its first impeachment hearing on charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. He said the committee completed its investigations in December, and they believe they have enough evidence to impeach the secretary.
“Our investigation made clear that this crisis finds its foundation in Secretary Mayorkas’ decision-making and refusal to enforce the laws passed by Congress, and that his failure to fulfill his oath of office demands accountability,” Representative Green said.
